iPhone storage space is a precious commodity for many people. Unfortunately, all photos, videos, music, and more can take up a lot of space and cause your iPhone to run out of memory. Storage space is a vital component of any device. It is important to keep in mind that the more storage space you have, the more information you can store and use. The average smartphone has an internal storage of 16 GB, which may seem like a lot, but it can fill up quickly if you are someone who downloads many apps or takes pictures often. There are many ways you can free up storage space on your iPhone. The following methods will help you maintain a healthy amount of storage space on your iPhone.

How to Check Available Storage Space on an iOS Device

There are a few ways to check the available storage space on your iPhone device.

  1. The first way is by going to Settings>General>Usage>Storage, which will show how much space is being used and how much space is available.
  2. The second way is by going to Settings>General>iCloud storage, which will show you how much iCloud storage you are using and how much iCloud storage you have left.
  3. The third way is by going to Settings>General>About, which will show the amount of memory that the iPhone has and how much of it is currently being used and free for use.

Here are some tips that you can use to free up storage space on your iPhone. You can delete unnecessary apps or app data and clear out old text messages that you no longer need. Additionally, delete old iMessage and SMS messages from other people by tapping on the chat thread and clear out old email attachments by opening an email attachment.

Check your WhatsApp and delete unnecessary data

WhatsApp is usually one of the most used apps in our day today. Unfortunately, it also uses a lot of storage on our phones, so we need to delete it now and then. Recently some images, videos, and files have been saved within just a few days, making it hard for us to clear up the space. WhatsApp has highlighted this problem and has a quick fix – change the storage settings. Head over to WhatsApp on your iPhone, select Settings – Storage Data, and then Manage storage.

Say goodbye to apps you don’t use

One of the main reasons your iPhone might be running out of storage space is the time you spend browsing through all your apps. Apple enables this feature on their devices that automatically deletes unused apps to free up more memory. If you activate this option, iOS will delete some of your apps without telling you if you’re running out of space on your device. The app icon will still be there, and you can download it whenever you need it without losing any data.

Try to optimize photo storage

The introduction of the iCloud Photo Library has improved the connection between our devices. We all have more space on our phones and tablets, making digital photo management accessible. If you have a lot of photos and videos on your phone, the cloud is the best place to save them. You will see a cloud icon next to the name of each image and video, which you can activate by tapping on it.

iCloud is a cloud-based storage service that can be used to store documents, media, and other data. It has several features that make it a convenient option for storing and accessing data. But with its convenience also comes the hassle of managing the storage space available on your iCloud account. We will help you manage your iCloud storage with minimal hassle by providing tips and tricks on optimizing your iCloud storage.

Why Does iCloud Need to be Maintained?

iCloud is a service that stores the data of your iPhone and iPad. It also syncs your files and information between these devices. iCloud is a great way to keep all your data in one place, but it does come with a price: iCloud storage space. Signing up for iCloud is straightforward. Go to the iCloud website and click “Create Apple ID .”Once you’ve set up your account, you will have 5 GB of space. The amount of storage space you get on iCloud depends on the type of plan you have for it. The cheapest plan only gives you 5GB of storage, which might not be enough for some people who use their devices to store photos or videos or download apps from the App Store. If you want more space, you can upgrade to a higher-level plan.

4 Ways to Free Up Space in iCloud

Delete photos and videos

If you’re frustrated by the lack of storage space on your iCloud account, it might be because you have a lot of photos or videos. You can change this by turning off automatic upload. Instead, click on the media files you want to delete in the Photos app, then delete them. They will remain in the recycle bin for 30 days before being permanently deleted. Now that you’ve cleaned your Photo Library, you’ll be able to free up space in iCloud.

Keep an eye on your emails

When you have many attachments, emails can start to weigh more, and it may happen that they will be heard. But don’t worry, the issue is solvable with a few steps. First, go to the iCloud control screen that you can use from your iPhone or iPad, which you access through settings. Next, tap on your smartphone backups, browse the iCloud website, and tap on the letter envelope icon. You will see all of your recent backups here.

Delete old backups

The first thing that happens when you set up the iPhone for the first time is it backs up all system files to iCloud. If a malfunction or reset occurs, you can automatically restore your files and applications without manually doing it. Over time, your iPhone backup can get pretty heavy, which will impact the available storage space on iCloud. It would help if you considered what phone data you’re willing to delete before it becomes an issue.

Use free cloud services

When a subscription is too pricey, or you run out of space in iCloud, try using an alternative cloud service! Google Drive is the biggest rival to iCloud, but it offers more storage space with 15GB. This service from Google Photos allows you to write up documents, store them safely and protect your photos and videos. On the other hand, Microsoft OneDrive is a cloud-based storage service with its benefits. It offers only 5GB for free, but you may find it more helpful if you use Microsoft Office 365. For €7 a month, you can enjoy the Office package without restrictions and have 1TB of Storage.

There is nothing worse than not having enough space on your iPhone or iPad. You do not want to reach the end of the day and find that you have no room left. Unfortunately, it’s not easy to find out how much storage is available on your iOS device. Even after you’ve deleted all the useless apps, music, and photos, there’s not always enough space left to save all the files you need.

Creative professionals are constantly in need of more storage on their iOS devices. Losing important files is frustrating for both creators and audiences when they can’t be reproduced or sent when needed. That is why it is crucial to free up some space on your device. There are two quick fixes to fix your device’s storage issues. First, you can close down any apps you’re not using and free up some memory on your phone. Secondly, clearing cache can also help clear out any old files that may take up space on your phone and cause it to run slowly or freeze at specific points. So let’s see what other options we have!

Nine Ways to Free Up Space on Your iPhone/iPad

You might be wondering how to free up space on your iPhone or iPad. An iPhone or iPad comes with a default amount of storage set by the manufacturer and cannot be increased by the user. In addition, there are two types of storage: Non-removable and removable. Non-removable storage is built into the device and cannot be removed, while storage options such as an SD card can be removed from the device.

Let’s explore the different ways you can free up space on your devices:

  1. Get a microSD card
  2. Delete apps you don’t use anymore
  3. “Reset” your device to factory settings
  4. Move apps to a different location on your device
  5. Switch from the iCloud drive back to local storage
  6. Delete duplicate photos and videos
  7. Delete unwanted contacts
  8.  Improve battery life
  9. Manage apps storage and Other data

Check how much space you have

Go to Settings > General >iPhone/iPad Storage. You should see a chart that shows the different types of apps and how much space they are taking up on your device. Updating iOS requires at least 6GB of free space. Make sure you have at least 2GB of free space on your phone. This will give you enough room to take new photos and install different apps without running out of space.

How to reduce Other storage?

When you open the storage menu on your iPhone, you will see four sections – Apps, Media, Photos, and Mail. But there is also the Other section which may be super large. The total storage space Other takes up will generally be in the 5-10GB range. So if you see values that are way over 10GB, your Other category is likely taking too much space. So the first thing you can do is try to clear your catches on Chrome/Safari browser.

Go to Settings>Browser (Chrome/Safari)>Clear History and Website Data. You can also reduce the size of your old messages in the Message history section and change the saving from Forever to a month or a year. This step could save you a lot of space and unnecessary data you are keeping on your smartphone.
